Henton

Henton, Oxfordshire

In 2011, Vigor Construction were appointed as the lead contractor for a unique, incomparable new build in Henton, near Chinnor, Oxfordshire.

The size and splendour of the Henton project is on an unprecedented, superlative scale. A mock tudor mansion of some 12,000 square feet, set in grounds of approximately 45 acres, this new build comprises 4 reception rooms, 9 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, with a basement area consisting of a cinema, games room and more.

Our Work

At a macro level, Vigor Construction was commissioned to pick up project management of the build at 'shell' stage, to progress through 1st fix and 2nd fix to project completion and was given ultimate responsibility by the client to :-

  • organise the overall programme of works across multiple contractors and sub-contractors.
  • oversee all on-site Health & Safety and cross company relations.
  • agree and sign-off any variations/additions to the work schedule directly with the Client.
  • liaise with the Client via tele conference and video link on a daily basis and face to face, via weekly on-site inspections.
At a workstream level, Vigor Construction has successfully delivered the majority of the 1st fix phase, including insulation, tacking, plastering and perhaps most notably, all carpentry, involving the painstaking fixing of highest quality solid oak skirting, achitraves and flooring throughout the building, which called on all the experience, skill and craftsmanship of the Vigor carpentry team. Vigor Construction was also tasked with proposing a high-tech drainage solution to service the entire site and was subsequently instructed to implement their environment sensitive recommendations, with the following features now successfully installed:-

The project has benefited hugely from Vigor Construction's continued presence as the "Go To" Contractor on site. In particular, David Vigor's vast experience as a Building Technician, Problem Manager and a Solutions Provider has undoubtedly resulted in the overall project moving forward and maintaining momentum, without any compromise to the quality and integrity of the build, or any relaxation of the exacting standards as demanded by the Client.
